About Team in Training

This year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will train an estimated 30,000 runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes to participate in a marathon, century ride or triathlon in our most successful fundraising program nationwide, Team In Training. During its history, the Team In Training program has experienced tremendous growth, from $30,000 in 1986 to over $82 million in 2000.

Team In Training offers runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes of all fitness abilities a three-to-five month comprehensive training program under the guidance of world class athletes.  In return for professional training with a team and travel to marathon, century and triathlon sites, the participants raise valuable funds in the fight against leukemia and related cancers.

Each member of our team participates in honor of a child from our community who has been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease or myeloma. Completing a marathon, century ride or triathlon are celebrations of human spirit, physical ability and mental endurance. For members of Team In Training, it is also a celebration of life.

Team In Training's Commitment to Participants:

  • Travel and accommodations (for non-local events), and entry fees for event weekend
  • Comprehensive training schedules
  • Three to five months supervised coaching by World-Class athletes
  • Professional advice on nutrition, injury prevention and other related topics
  • Fundraising materials, clinics, ideas and strategies
  • Support and encouragement throughout the fundraising and training period and on the day of the event.

Team Member's Commitment to TNT:

  • Raise the designated amount of funds to aid local researchers in their race to find a cure for leukemia and related cancers
