About Team
in Training
This year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will train an estimated 30,000 runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes to participate in a marathon, century ride or triathlon in our most successful fundraising program nationwide, Team In Training. During its history, the Team In Training program has experienced tremendous growth, from $30,000 in 1986 to over $82 million in 2000. Team In Training offers runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes of all fitness abilities a three-to-five month comprehensive training program under the guidance of world class athletes. In return for professional training with a team and travel to marathon, century and triathlon sites, the participants raise valuable funds in the fight against leukemia and related cancers. Each member of our team participates in honor of a child from our community who has been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease or myeloma. Completing a marathon, century ride or triathlon are celebrations of human spirit, physical ability and mental endurance. For members of Team In Training, it is also a celebration of life.
